Time Signature and Beat Pattern:
4/2 (like 4/4 but at half the speed), does not use off beats (starts from 1st beat) - (Time signatures explained)

Fundamental Chord Structure:
Basic chord progression: C#-F#-G#-C# with some parts using chords out of C#-D#-G#-C#. The 3rd of D#m of C# scale has been raised by a semitone to produce a dissonant effect.

Original scale: C# major

Chords transposed a scale of C: C-F-G-C / C-D-G-C. (1 semitone above this scale)- (Transposition explained)

Roman numeral form notation: I-IV-V-I / I-II-V-I (modal progression in parts); the II is the raised chord here, replacing ii - (Roman numeral notation explained)

Strum Pattern:
Option 1: Strumming - |D - D - D - D| or |DD' - DD' -| (adding extra spaces to remind you to play at a slow pace - very very slow)

Option 2: Play a partially strummed / partially picked arpeggio. strike the 3 thick strings and then pick 3>2>1>3>2>1

Option 3: Play broken chords or arpeggios.

(Explanation - 4 beats per meter; the stroke that is marked with a (') is played and muted; the beats in brackets are divided into subunits of equal duration as noted). (More on how to read strum patterns)

Between the meter chord changes occur at times. thoug at its lumbering speed, you wouldn't have much of a problem with that.

Playings Tips and Song Notes:
The chords are intellegent and refershing. The basic modal progression on the time old C# scale has been slightly altered to bring in the sense of discord and unease amongst serenity. Its an important example of how a small change can alter the harmonics so drastically.

Try singing along or playing along with the track to best guess the strum and chord positions.

The song is one of those rare gems that express Tagores brilliance.

Difficulty: Beginner level (if transposed down by a semitone - just ignore to #s) / Intermediate level if you play using the sharp scale
