Time Signature and Beat Pattern:
4/4 (slow), does not use off beats (starts from 1st beat) - (Time signatures explained)

Fundamental Chord Structure:
Basic chord progression: Verse: E-C#m-A-B (modal) Chorus:E-C-A-B7

Original scale: E major

Chords transposed a scale of C: Verse: C-Am-F-G (modal) Chorus:C-G#-F-G7 (2 semitone above this scale)- (Transposition explained)

Roman numeral form notation: Verse:I-vi-IV-V Chorus:I-bVI-IV-V7 (modal progression) - (Roman numeral notation explained)

Strum Pattern:

Option 1: Fast strumming - |D_D'(D'D')(DD)|

Option 2: |(DD)(UD)(D'D')(DD)|

Option 3: |(D_)(DU)(D_)(_U)|(D_)(DU)(D_)(__)|

Option 4: Play single down-strokes, broken chords or arpeggios.

Option 5: Another option will be to use the following strum-cum-arpeggio pattern (numbers indicate string number and plus means strummed together):
(root)>3>2>1>3>2>1 and repeat

(Explanation - 4 beats per meter; the stroke that is marked with a (') is played and muted; the beats in brackets are divided into subunits of equal duration as noted). (More on how to read strum patterns)

Between the meter chord changes do not occur.

Playings Tips and Song Notes:
The chords are mostly simple, beginner level, roaming around the E major chord. Try singing along or playing along with the track.

The use of the I-bVI-IV-V7 sequence in the chorus is indeed a novel experimentation that has payed out well.

Difficulty: Beginner level
